Here is a question mixed in here about taping, and Clay's thoughts about what y'all might afford me in this matter. Thanks a bunch in advance.

4:16 PM Man, I'm gonna miss Art,Dennis and Daryl, can't we take a collection, have a bake sale, garage sale(that would make my wife happy...getting rid of my valuables...shit), hell I'll even give blood, plasma, or whatever else .....start working the strip up on Aurora Ave..(old hiway 99) if need be. How many pounds would I have to sell by May, or should I dig up some old family recipes for moonshine, get a paper route, canvas bag, and metal cart to pull behind my Schwinn StingRay...I better get buisy. I hate to think that the other guys are being left behind, and certainly hope that there is no bad blood over this stuff. The horns are a big part of what I enjoy, and their mix and style together is nothing short of COOL !
Hey, as far as any tapers...., I've never done anything like that before, but if I could, and not get in a heat of trouble, would someone out there want to tell me what I might be looking at as far as getting it done or atleast looking into it for the show in May at the Snoqualmie Casino? Let me know. Hell again, and if any of you are making your way out west, and might need a place to stay, let me know about that too, cause we might be able to set you up.

5:28 PM Richard...I imagine you'll hear back from skotdee or estanley or antsyashley or fnovoa or johndude or any number of tapers on the board. They can tell you what you need to get started. I'd also suggest that you open a new thread on the Tapers forum with some sort of title like "How do I get started taping?"

Hey Richard, kinda tough to tell in one post how to get into taping, its a pretty broad subject with a lot of variables. Start here:

http://www.taperssection.com/index.php?topic=35278.0

Looooong story short you're gonna need Mics, Mic Power, Gain, Analog to digital conversion, and storage space. Luckily these days you can get most of that in one package. Lots of options. Not to mention all the miscellaneous gear like mic stands, clamps, mic mounts, cables, etc. Read up, tapersection.com is your friend...

Oh and one more thing, check your wallet at the door ;)

Skotdee,
Thanks brother. I know of a couple of guys who are in the sound/entertainment industry. I might also start there with some questions, maybe even see if they know of folks, who for the price of a ticket and a beer...would come along. Maybe I am Mississippi dreaming, but it would be cool to get something laid down from this part of the country for the rest of ya'll.

Skotdee has it on point with taperssection.com that's the place. Everyone is friendly, and will help you out.

Heck we'll help out here too..=)

Like Skotdee said, price will eventually have to be an option in getting a good rig. My rig is decent, but when I excel at is post-production b/c of software can make anyone be a pro.

Get something mid range to start off with, but I recommend getting good mics and go decent on everything else. If your pull sounds good, you can always make it better with Cool Edit Pro / Adobe Audition /Soundwave / Soundforge and whatnot.

Skotdee knows what he's talking about b/c he's one of the best tapers here. Me, i consider myself to be the 4th best taper here =)
