Hey Scott, how's it goin? Hope the holidays were good for you and yours. I just made a DVD of last year's NYE streamed concert from Freebird. It turned out rather well, in particular the sound. The video source was the FLV feed, which I ripped and converted to AVI. The audio was superb to start with. With some edits, it made a decent DVD.
I need to know a few things however. From a legal standpoint, am I alright? I don't plan to sell it, I plan to give it away. Also, what did you use to make the sleeve for the Blackwater Review video? Was it photoshop or someother package? I would like to use the same template you used. It doesn't matter what the software was, as long as I know what it was. I'm in the IT business, so I can get my hands on anything.
Could you e-mail me the template? I could finish the project and send you a copy. Then you could distribute it anyway you wish. Way more fans close to you that would be interested.
I'm not above doing it again for this year's stream.
Hey Derek, very nifty of ya to rip the stream, I've never tried that... You're fine from a legal standpoint, just like any other circulating recordings, free trade only, never for sale. I'd probably not seed it online however, only because of the webcast and I'm not sure what kinda rules they have about their material.
Yes, I do most cover art in photoshop. I can email you a template.
Thanks! I say have at it with this years streams too, especially 12/31 cause Im not sure if there will be a taper there... I will be taping 1/1 & 1/2 for DVD though.
Hey Scott, any chance you can e-mail me that Photoshop template? My e-mail address is in my profile. I've ripped all 3 of this years Freebird shows. Haven't started working on them per se. My idea is a compilation of the 3 shows called "3 Heard at the Freebird". I'm going to do a DVD and a soundtrack as well.
I'm ready to go on the one I ripped from last NYE(08/09). I found a video enhancement tool for low quality video(ie, web-casts, youtube, etc..) So I'm playing with that.
Also I guy named Steve Powers contacted me through e-mail. He lives in Atlantic Beach. He can't download anything and is looking for Mofro CD's, DVD's, etc.. I told him that he best get in touch with you. Here is his e-mail address oletym@yahoo.com He wants you to e-mail him, then take it from there.
