>>>>i take it you have a crowdphobia?

you know what I have a phobia of. dumb asses. and the bigger the gathering, the higher the idiot quotient.

and probably b/c of spending numerous weekends at Magfest(super chill), and having spend over 150 shows with Panic(which nowadays is starting to feel like the dumbass shit show); I just decided I like things certain ways.

i know I cant control who and where certain bands play, but i can decide where and when i wish to participate.

example: i am terrified of cruise ships, and only b/c of the factor of tiny pieces and parts making up the whole. but i am not terrified of living on earth. figure that out. yet, if i had the money, i would probably do jamcruise, for good friends who have been every year reaffirm the vibe to me that I would enjoy it.

you know, i would probably be fine at suwanee for any event, b/c the place would take rule over the idiot factor.

i live on the positive, and there is nothing negative about being positive how you feel.

seriously though, how can amphitheater stage grounds hold more people. packed to the gills in 2003-2005 all the way to the road on the big nights, and that was b4 they opened up new camping and the field of RV's near the dance/field stage????

now an RV superhighway is carved through the heart of suwannee

i guess when it surrounds the music industry and people coming to festivals, progress can be looked at as positive.

I'll check in on this. If I had been to 150 Panic shows plus all the other concerts hollis has been to over the years I'd probly feel the same. I have a hard time getting past the idiot factor myself; but it does seem more rampant in some places than others. If I could ignore the negative like Firefly does then I'd be better off. Instead I tend to notice the dumb asses too much. I can understand the sentiment of being selective.

That said, I found Wanee to be great 2 years ago. (I didn't go last year...a Florida festival in June is just plain wrong.) April is a great time of year and the place was not packed to the gills at all. A sizeable crowd but not overpacked by any sense. Having the 2 stages helps. We're going this year; one helluva lineup!

As for Bonnaroo or Rothbury I don't have any info hhfan. Seems like they've done Rothbury more in recent years tho so I'd be leaning toward that one. I'll see if anyone is talking.

I failed to mention how gorgeous it is there and that it's only about maybe 50 miles or less from where JJ lives and so many of his songs are about.

As for Rothbury, the other reason I'd lean toward it is because it's organized and put on by Madison House, which is JJ's management company.

I'm with Hollis on this one. Great lineup that I would like to see, but there is NO WAY you could get me near the place that weekend. It is gonna be UGLY CROWDED!!!! Live Oak police will be in FULL force. They should move Wanee somewhere with much more room for this lineup.

Clay -- I have been wanting to go to a fest at the Suwanee Park, and this looks fan-f'ing-tastic! However -- it is just before Jazz Fest. Depending on funds and time off, I may have to decide between the two! I'll keep an open mind, though! You know I'd love to be there!

Read a few of my recent posts and laughed at myself today. Funny how your view on things change once you have children. Never thought I'd hear myself say that I wouldn't attend a festival because it was gonna be too crowded. My, oh, my!! CH-CH-CH-CHANGES........HEH HEH HEH!!!

yep I sure hear you Stan, I would be at a Freebird run in a heartbeat or the Jamcruise (with major financing)......but to have someone else care for my children for that long of a time would not make me (in my opinion) a good Mama.......

like I say....one day my friends, one day.......

:o)

thats cute, stan, you have valid reasons , wanee prob will be crowded, but its cool that people spend money on a festival, I don't like "bonnaroo" like crowds either, but i will probably be workin at the fetsival anyways, not sure what department, so i will be alright
