I got the scoop on this the other day and forgot to post. How this went down is that Lenny's opener dropped out last minute. Having their the ear to the ground, JJ's mgt learned of it quickly and after talking with him they pounced on it, contacting Lenny's people and making it happen.
It was solo because that's what Lenny's folks wanted, and because the guys were all booked up to go home and it didn't make financial sense to delay or bring them back. (Basically the gig paid for a solo but not enuf for more than that.)
