Yes,she is still here..... sorry for the oh-so-late notice, Sunshine, but Lochloosa (a.k.a. one of my deadbeat friends from Greenville who did not go to Tampa for the Ybor City show....) and Michael and I, and probably a couple other friends will be meeting at Barleys Tap Room to have a sit-down dinner and some good beer at around 5:30 tomorrow. As Lochloosa has already told you, Barley's is only a few blocks from the main stage.
http://www.barleystaproom.com/greenville/

It would be great if you want to and could meet us there - I will be wearing...... drumroll...... AN YBOR CITY T-shirt!!!!!! A kind of plum color. I'll be easy to find, as there are not too many Ybor City t-shirts in Greenville. Michael will be wearing his too (if I can find it...)

From there we will wonder on over to the main stage in time for Mofro. I am also told by my good friend Lochloosa that the Beer Garden is on the way - between Barleys and the stage - now how darn handy is that?

Fall for Greenville is one of those festivals at which you will need to buy "coopins" to pay for food, drinks, rides (oh, btw, someone told me they do have some carnival rides for the kids), etc. So, another handy reason to meet up at Barley's beforehand, so as not to have to mess with as many coopins!

SO, any of my newfound Tampa Mofroian friends have a change of heart and decide to come up and join us?

OMG, so sorry - Lochloosa's new fiance' will be at Barley's too! Don't know as she has a Mofroian name yet, but she's a real sweety!

So please try to come find us at Barley's, Sunshine - it was so much fun meeting the Tampa crew (or would that be krewe?) before the Ybor show so I knew who they all were at the concert!

well, I don't know as there is an "inside" of the festival. I have not been there, but (and hopefully Lochloosa will jump in here and help me out), but
it is basically just a street festival in downtown Greenville - which is absolutely beautiful, btw if you have not yet been there.

They shut down a street or two (probably main street), and the stage will be on that street. Barleys is just a block (or less) down a side street off of main. I'll see if I can find some kind of map for you.

But trust me, Barley's is real close to where The Boys will be... Lochloosa says 4 blocks - just a beautiful stroll thru downtown Greenvul!

and ditto that, you too - MF MOFRO FAN and briggzz!

DUH - Barleys will be on your LEFT if you are at the corner of Main and Washington facing WEST that is to say facing the "kids area"

I am directionally challenged.

You can wait for Lochloosa to verify what I said is correct tomorrow before you head out....
What time are you leaving?

Damn this thread took off in no time! Sounds like y'all are gonna have a blast? Karla you do know her name is Karla, right Karla?

Wish we could go. Thanks for for thinking of us KG. But between Voodoo, Bear Creek, and the New Year's/Freebird run we're already dumping out the change jars so we's can eat.

Hope y'all have some fall weather! It was 93 here today with our usual humidity. Just a normal July day. Our fall ain't fell yet. You guys deserve to have a nice autumn evening!

Clay! You're messin with my head! Are you saying Sunshine's name is Karla? What the??? It's late, I better go to bed!

Sorry bout that temp - I know it well, but it is darn near chilly here. I'm thinkin I will have to look like a dork and wear a sweat shirt UNDER my Ybor t-shirt! No pretty fall colors yet, but that will be real soon...

Sure you don't wanna change your mind and hop a jetplane on up here? The weather is beautiful!!!

I'd love to change my mind but the only thing we could afford would be a hot air balloon and I'm a fearin the show'd be over by the time we got there.

If'n you wear your sweatshirt under your Ybor shirt it will look silly. But I understand. It's Mofro.

And as for messing with your head, well...it was not my intent. Any comments Sunny?

You have to be kidding! How way darn cool is that - we have the same name? I bet our birthdays are on the same day too!!! (we'll compare notes tonight) - now you MUST come to Barleys - I got your cell number, so we'll just call if we can't find each other.

Yeah, most of the time it's spelled Carla - I was actually named after my grandpa, Karl so that's where my K came from.

Life is just so full of wonderful surprises!

oh - on the weather, my husband, aka, "Meteorlogist Michael" says 50% chance of rain this evening, (but he is usually wrong) - just bring your rain gear and tough it out - ain't gonna let a little rain keep me from seein' JJ - outdoors for the FIRST time!!!

Why it's only appropriate that it would rain!

Clay, we're gonna miss you and TrophyWife! We'll take pics

I was named after my Dad's cousin Karla in Italy.

I will have to don what I call my "JJ" jacket. JJ signed both shoulder of my yellow mountain gear rain jacket, the sigs are fading, so I may have to have that fixed, gots my sharpie packed!

are the stages covered, meaning will the show go on even thru the rain?

Of course we will meet up!!

Right now it is 20% chance of showers and in the 70's at 9. Sounds like my kind of weather! I will try to drop in to Barleys to meet up with the crew. I'm a short dude with spikey hair lol. Anyone looking for it, it is right next door to Wild Wings. Good food and tons and tons of beer. Check out the pool tables upstairs if you are looking to kill some time. Streets will be blocked off all over the place. I work downtown and I had to get a little creative with my drive in this morning. Oh and FYI Main street in Greenville was just named one of the top 10 main streets in the country, so come and enjoy! If you are in town for Saturday as well be sure to check out our Reedy River / Falls Park area. Really a beautiful place.

11 hours 25 mins til Mofro!!!

Wow this is fun! Now I know what it looks like when we have a large group and everyone else has to sit back and read about it. Y'all got a bunch...we haven't had this many people from the board hook up all that often. Other than the Peel this past Spring, they've always been Florida shows. Nice to see it's spreading out to other areas!

Barley's is a must stop for us anytime we're in Asheville. Nobody in Tampa Bay can touch their pizza. And my wife, the beer snob, is in heaven there. Haven't been to the one in Greenville.

Sounds like a really cool festival. I read that it goes on rain or shine.

KG, nope I wasn't messing with your head. Hah! I meant to tell you that in Ybor but plum fergot. I knew you'd get a kick out of that. And reading the origin of y'alls names was (ahem) fascinating. I'll sleep better tonight for having that knowledge.

If Ida knowd yo hubby was into weather then he and I could have had conversation that actually was fascinating...yes, I'm one of him.

I'd tell y'all to have fun tonite but that would be silly.

WOW is all I can say! I can barely hold my head up right now but I wanted to let you all know that our boys brought it tonight!!! They played through power/light issues and even through some rain. It was a fantastic show though and we did get some Nare Sugar!!!! Hope you enjoyed that phone call Clay!!! I took a bunch of video that I will try to sort out tomorrow. It may be worthless as much as I was moving around. It was my first show since March so I had some pent up Mofro Mojo to shake out!

Highlights of the night I can think of right now are
1) Nare Sugar!!!
2) Art played one of the sweetest and nastiest solos I have heard him play to date. I can't remember what song it was in at the moment.
3) Country Ghetto opener
4) JJ was screaming the words to Lochloosa. I had good bumps all over
5) The sing along during Brighter Days was amazing! I have video if JJ just jumping up and down singing " Na na naaa nana na naa na na na naa. (had to sing that in my head a few times to type it!)

ok, I think I could go on and on but I am going to bed. More rocking out to do tomorrow. Fall For Greenville rocks!!

OH MY GOD!!!!
Who got the set lists??? I saw them being handed to a couple people over at center stage..
I was to the left, but had a GREAT view, hangin off the fence thing they had up around the stage.

THE best part - encore was Brighter Days and Army Mule! And JJ really laid on thick that story 'bout his daddy leaning over the steerin' wheel drivin thru downtown Jax... I love that story!

OH, and one more thing - Michael and I ran into JJ walkin down the street on our way to Barleys - - - now that's the last three shows in a row we've run into him and talked to him! Well, more like me babbling out stupid rediculous nonsense while JJ tries to be polite and not turn and run as fast as he can! What a cool dude he is!!!

Barleys was a great time too! Briggzz, what happened to you? Didn't make it over there?
Sunshine's kids are the cutest!!!

Hey, Sunshine? Did you get the kiddies up front? I did not ever see you durring the show? Where did you end up?

and yeah - they just played right on thru power outs and lights going off - they are a class act!!!

Sounds fantastic! Thanks for your late night/same day review briggzz. Nare Sugar--3 nites in a row y'all! Nice piece of writing there with the na na's dude...I could hear it in my head!

Hope y'all could all get together beforehand. I guess everybody's still hungover from last night huh? Hellllooooooo?

Thanks for the call briggzz. He texted me before the show and asked me if I wanted him to call during a certain song. I said Nare Sugar. He said he hoped he could fill that request.

Well...the trophy wife and I were having (a late) dinner down in Ybor City and then were heading to see Nervous Turkey, and the Reverend Payton's Big Damn Band. We were just finishing eating, my cell rings, it's briggzz and sure as shit I can hear JJ doing Nare Sugar. We handed the phone back and forth sitting there in there in this little restaurant for the whole (near) 9 minutes. It was awesome. (No poonanny rant but still awesome!)

We're anxiously awaiting more.

(FireFly, people from your planet stay up til 3:05 a.m. huh?)

Hungover? Did somebody say hungover, I'm about ready to go crawl back to bed right now - Michael is passed out on the couch! Bless his heart, he was the runner last night and was bringin' everybody "rescue beer" during the show!

briggzz is right - Fall for Greenville rocks - was just looking at their schedule for today/tonight, and I think we might just hafta go back down there! Got some great music lined up - that's if I can get Michael off the couch....

DAMN! I can't believe I missed it!. Chicora is a really cool spot and we almost went there after the show but headed the other way instead! Did anyone happen to stumble in on this surprise that was out?

Sorry I didn't meet up KG! I started "enjoying" Fall for Greenville at 5:01 sharp and ended up stumbling my way down the road later on to find the stage. I did get to meet and hang out with Sunshine and her family for a bit. I hope your boys enjoyed the show! AND I definitely want a More Harmonica shirt now! Anyone have an extra they would sell or will there be another run made?

Still on a Mofro high! Oh and I talked with the guys in my band and we may have a name change to DirtfloorCracka. What do you guys think?

ok I am on the board now.....this may take awhile, as I have ALOT to say and recall. Like the nutty Mofronian that I am, I actually kept mental notes all about last evening (including my lengthy conversation with JJ) so on the ride from the hotel this morning straight to Sawyer's soccer game, I wrote down as much as I could remember about last night.

stay tuned.......

by the way, on a scale of 1 to 10..........wheeel maybe an 27........

ps. I had a wonderful but too short time with briggzz, and a wild time at Barley's (with photos to come)with KGinSC's crew

p.s.s. I dew have a setlist.......

Had lots of fun indeed, met Sunshine and her husband and kids (awesome More Harmonica shirt!) Of course KGinSC was there with Mr. KGinSC, and some people from the office showed up later too.

We headed on down towards the stage (stopping for another beer, of course!)

Mrs. Lochloosa and myself went down to the center of the front of the stage. We only had one person in front of us and they eventually left, allowing us to move it on over...to the high side. We were front row, right against the barricade and had a perfect view in front of JJ.

Awesome show! Loved every bit of it. I'll leave setlist to someone with a better memory, less of a hangover, or a paper copy from the stage. After the show we talked a little to the organ player, and then the Mrs. and I headed towards the car near the back of the stage. There was JJ talking to some fans, so we stopped by and said hello and that we enjoyed the show.

I wish I was going to get to see any of the other dates this year... may look at Orlando with Galactic (another one of my favorite bands).

Met KGinSC, her hubby Michael, their friends Jim "Lochloosa" and his fiance Jennifer at Barley's before hand. We had a great time for a first meeting! From talking bout canebrake rattlesnakes to the first time we heard Mofro to the stories we have about JJ. Went by way too fast.

disclaimer: I tried to resize these on photobucket like I normally do, but for some reason when I "ok" to resize it does not. I usually do not like to post them this large, If need be, I can take them down if they slow things down.

We finally made it to our final destination to view Mofro (would have been up front, but we had the youngins and didn't think it fair or appropiate to have them without a view) which was on the right of the stage and way up front, decent view but off to the side but we had plenty of room to dance. I began to text briggzz, and I mean began cuz we would text back and forth to locate each other and for the life of me I can't figure out wjy, but I kept telling him that I was on the left when indeed I was on the right. our text messages were quite comical and I was again texting him when he found us. It was indeed a pleasure to meet you and take some photos of us to send to Clay. I am sure I will be seeing you at the Peel in a couple of weeks!!

I must say that we were blessed to be able to catch the final 2-3 songs (they all blend together) of shucken frooter!!

Photobucket

I was chatting with Anthony Ferril after the show and mention that if there was an extra setlist laying around I would love to have one. So he went off and came back with one of the setlists, tape and all!! lol!

I had handed the setlist for JJ to sign (Anthony also signed it) and he went ahead and crossed off Fireflies and had commented on the fact that I had made the rest of the changes to make the setlist correct. I should have let him make all the changes.

I got the text of the photo of you and briggzz just as Jen and I were leaving for Ybor. It was great.

13 songs on the list...not bad at all for a festival. Of course if not for shucking footer you'd have gotten 15.

So, seriously now, what'd y'all think of shuckin foooter?

Hey Lochloosa come on down. Galactic and Mofro are gonna tear the roof off the HOB.

Yes my boys had a great time! Little man was jammin and crept inside the "fence" and was sitting there just a bobbin his head to the groove!! and held his sharpie in his hand the whole time just in the hopes of meeting up with JJ to get his autograph!! Zach was really getting into the Brighter Days encore when the whole crowd was chanting "Na na naaa nana na naa na na na naa", he had his arm up in the air with his fist going to the rhythm, Na na naaa nana na naa na na na naa............as was his proud Mama.. :o) ...I was having beyond a blast having my children there with me!! I was holding Sawyer during "I Believe" and we kinda just danced together and snuggled to the energy of that song - "In the joy of not knowing..."......

shuckin foooter, who........oh before I forget, as this is not in my notes....Gregg was taking Sawyer to use the facilities and as they were waiting in line, he heard a couple of tidbits.....people were saying that they didn't know who Mofro was, but they are definately gonna google em and some were saying that they blew scooter pa-tooter out of the water!!!

karma......destiny.......I dunno.......but I did not see Giggles Concert Call request til this afternoon. I called her just as JJ began to tell stories about Lochloosa ....I had hoped the call went thru, too into the song to check the cell phone.....

in one hand was my cell hopefully transmitting to giggles, and the other hand was my camera "taping" the song. I absolutely adored what JJ had to say about his fav spot in the world.....I will eventually make that my next board "signature".......

I also gave giggles another concert call during "Move it On" and I got a text from her during the song and I think I may have cut her off to view her text...sorry!

Talked with JJ a bit about the sitar and how I really loved hearing "Move it On" when we met up later.....

yes the kids did get to meet him, it was sooo awesome!!

ha ha, you can see Zach holding his Country Ghetto wallet that JJ not only re-signed but recognized the wallet that never goes away, lol.

JJ autographed the back of both of their shirts. JJ was beyond cordial and just so damn nice to my boys. Sawyer was telling him about how his Mama broke his guitar string and JJ got down to his level and told him that he breaks them all the time. Sawyer had just a look of amazement on his face and then JJ asked him if his Mama brought him a new string and Sawyer just looked at me like I was at fault rolled those darn cute eyes and then slowly moved his eyes to look at JJ and said "No she didn't" with a smile and JJ just laughed.

Ain't boring me. At least I don't think so. When I sit here with a big ol grin on my face that usually means I ain't bored. I'm lovin every minute and it sounds like your boys first time hearing the the boys was all you could've wished for and more. If I don't say so myself, sharing experiences is a big part of what this site is about. (And just like TV, if you're bored with what you're reading, click onto a different post. It's a beautiful thing.)
