hey gang

so its getting pretty close to voodoofest and it will be a very busy time for new orleans

we gotta start thinking about hotels/or etc SOOn,
because it will book out and you won't be able to get what ya want.
now here's the thing, if you wanna stay in a certain area we gotta act soon otherwise it gets a) expensive and b) I hate to say it but-shady

if you pick a hotel in the french quarter area you pretty much good inside the quarter and outside from esplanade to poydras and rampart to the mississippi river(pull up a map and you will see what i mean)
thing is with hotels in FQ they will charge you up your nose for parking cause they don't have much spaces(like $30 a day)

garden district is nice too or up by audobon zoo/park, but those would be more vaca rentals than hotels and i have never stayed there,
there is a place on magazine street that is cheap, nice big private rooms but after the hurricane they had a bit of a problem keeping it up, don't know why, I hear its starting to look real run-down, I wouldn't recommended, sadly, was an awesome place

also the faubourg marigny area is cool (if ya look at the map, look to the right of frenchQ where the city makes a bend, you will see frenchmenstreet, the area to the right ) , lots of vacation /house rentals there but again you gotta watch what street its on

I wouldn't stay near the airport, too far to get everywhere

personally i try to stay close to the quarter, usually i stay at this really cool and neat hostel , they have private rooms they just renovated but they booked already.(tryin to find out if there's more avail)

I looked on hotels.com and found a hotel with a 2brm suite with living area + pullout couch for $260

there are vacationrental website and there are some awesome places you can rent

I'm not sure if you guys would be up to sharing something as a group, i can tell ya you won't be in the room for long, just to sleep for a bit and take a shower
and clay can go and take a nap to rest his back undisturbed

so whatcha all think??
maybe somebody else has any suggestions?
not sure if the band is stayin in town,

new orleans is a very different US city but it's a great place for music, food, folks

can't wait to go !!!!

Just letting y'all know that rooms are still available at the Best Western on St. Charles Ave in the Garden District (nearby Hampton Inn is already sold out). Room w/ 2 dbl beds is $149/nt or $134 for AAA rate. This is a nice, safe area of town, and a $6 cab ride to Tipitina's. But not in the middle of all the excitement of the FQ or Marigny as Firefly said.

And she's right. Lots of stuff is sold out already and what's left might be a bit expensive.
