I got the inspiration for this a while back. I was surfing around the net in my never-ending quest to keep y'all (and me) entertained and was looking at a fan forum for Dave Matthews Band when I saw they did this.

Here's how it works...as most of us know, the opening show of the Fall Tour is at The Ritz Theatre in Ybor City on Thurs Sept 24. Make a setlist of the songs you think will be played at the show. The person who has the highest number of correct songs wins. Click on the link below; it will open a ballot in a new window and just follow the instructions from there.

Giggles has been helping me. She has some experience, being the huge DMB fan she is (how many shows Gigs?) and helped me to put together criteria and how to handle the ballotting. She's also volunteered to sit out the pool to help count songs and determine a winner. (Wait...or did she say she wants to sit out by the pool and shout songs until she can find a wiener...? I'm old, my hearing's not what it used to be.)

Anyone can participate. In addition to the online ballot I'll be printing ones to take to the show that people there can fill out if they want to. We'll take the online ballots and combine with the on-site ballots and determine one winner.

The winner will receive an Orange Blossoms CD signed by JJ, and of course, bragging rights.

In addition to Giggles, my trophy wife is also excluded, and of course I am too (dadgummit!)

Ah yeah, fantasy 'fro. You should give extra points for callin the opener or encore... Check out phantasytour.com, they been doin this for years with phish, moe, sci, etc... 'cept they keep track of it for the whole tour, ala fantasy football

Edit: I had the website wrong, correct now...

We used to do this on Dead tour...everyone would throw in $5 or $10 and whoever picked the most songs that night won all the cash.

A better question, Stan...is what did the winner do with that cash??? And look who is the newest member of the 500 club!

I think it would be appropriate for me to credit Roger Miller for my inspiration for the thread title, from his 1965 song "You Can't Roller Skate in a Buffalo Herd." (And if anyone knows who Roger Miller is they're older than me.)

Dave uses that lyric in a "Everyday" sometimes. "You can't roller skate in a buffalo herd" Great lyric. I am also a huge DMB fan.

pretty much what they do over there - they have their entire tour history from 89 that they know of (includes venue, date, setlist, guests, etc). you,re able to go on their and click on the shows you were at and it adds it to your tour stats.

this would require us, as a community, coming together and putting this together as im sure there are tons of shows that dont have recordings out there and dome of the paper setlists we have dont match exactly what they played.

Wow, dirt, antsmarching is a helluva site. I think I'll have to wait a while before taking on an endeavor such as the tour history page.

On another note...gotta have these in by Tuesday night y'all. I've already got about 8 or 10. Whaddya waiting for??

Well poo. A whopping total of 6 entries.

I'm printing out copies of the entry form to bring to Ella's and to the show for those that still want in. Giggles and I will both have them.

Yeah, but golly gee willikers, six? Giggles and I put a lot of time into this. Between working with her on the ballot and then building the online page for the entries I spent 2-3 hours and this, and Gigs probly spent that much.

I'd rather spend that time on something that more people would like to participate in.

I'm gonna bring copies of the ballot to Ella's and to the show tonight for people who want to jump in. Your odds may go down Kim...nothing personal! (Now watch--you'll end up winning!)

I know- sorry guys- I am sure you will get more tonight…
You hard work IS appreciated- people just get lame sometimes and wait until the last minute has past, then wish they had participated.
It’s a great idea.

You guys have a blast with today/tonight’s festivities…and know I hate you all ( just kidding!!!!)
Super jealous here in So Cal…

Thank you Kimberly. I know everyone appreciates it. I was still on my first cup of coffee when I wrote the above; didn't mean to come off as a grouch!

And I know behind it all...you really do hate us.

And the winner is..............
Delerious Tyme!!! DT got 12 of the 14 songs correct!

Honorable mention shout out to skotdee, who would've had a perfect setlist if the band hadn't cut 3 songs. Damn that Shooter Jennings for playing long and cutting into MOFRO time!

Thanks ya'll and wow.. I must a got lucky. Especially if Skotdee had them all if they had not cut a few from the list. I'm curious as to which ones they were and which ones I missed... I think I can probably guess them, but that's considering that I remember what I put on my setlist.

I will have to say thank you to JJ for giving me the insight to pick alot of them on the set list. After waiting to see Brighter Days for so long, I studied the set lists extensively, especially leading up to the past few shows I've been at trying to judge whether or not they were going to play it when I was at the next show. That and being a economics major with an emphasis on econometrics, which is alot of data regressions to figure out a trend and educated guesses, it's kinda my thing I would have to say. So, to sum it all up, thanks JJ for making me wait, it was worth it in more ways than one... That's for sure...

Congrats DT! We got another 6 or 8 entries before the show (giggles can tell you for sure), so all total about 12 or so.

I'm thrilled for you but had I known you had those kind of credentials I'd have made it harder! :)

Show 'em what he won Vanna...
