Thanks again for the update Adam!! ---------- "If you've never seen us before, don't be bashful - sing along from start to finish........and dance & feel good.....there's enough shit in the world, let it all out...........Brighter Daaaaays...."
Ditto Sunshine on the She Don't Know, great song. Also, I didn't see it on the set lists, but I recall seeing a recent video posting on You Tube if I remember right of the guys playing the Devil You Know. Great to see that song back on a set list as well. They played it quite a bit to start the OB Tour right after the release and then it just kinda vanished for a while.

But I'm gonna stick my neck out and say something I've been wanting to say for a few weeks now, and Lord know I hope I don't get crucified for saying it but it's my opinion: I think the setlists the last few weeks have been more of the same. They are changing up very little.
Oh Clay, I agree. But I didn't want to say it either. It makes me wonder if I really would want to travel far and wide (and spend lots of money) if I'm going to see, as you put it, "more of the same."
Ditto, but they have been opening and playing short sets recently, so I'm sure they are limited as to what they can put on the setlist. And I'm sure JJ wants to play mostly O.B. stuff to help sell the record. Having said that, I think this Dream Set List contest comes at a perfect time.
Anyone else dying from curiosity regarding the new album?

gots any info thar Mr. D?? ---------- "If you've never seen us before, don't be bashful - sing along from start to finish........and dance & feel good.....there's enough shit in the world, let it all out...........Brighter Daaaaays...."
I'm sure this is due to the addition of Andrew and Anthony....takes a while to learn all the new and old tunes when you are on the road and don't really have time to rehearse.
good point there Stan... ---------- "If you've never seen us before, don't be bashful - sing along from start to finish........and dance & feel good.....there's enough shit in the world, let it all out...........Brighter Daaaaays...."
Yeah I've thought of that too Stan but I'da thought they'd have enough time by now. But you're right: they don't have time to practice or rehearse or nothing...it's go, go, go for them.
When I spent a few minutes talking to JJ while at the Windjammer a couple months back I asked him about the next record. He said he's not in a big hurry. He knows which songs he wants to put on it; in fact he said he has enuf for 2 records--no, he's not going to do a double CD--and based on which songs go on it the record could go one way or another (in terms of style; I don't want to misquote him but want he meant was like it could lean more toward funk, or R&B, or blues, etc. He said he hadn't narrowed down the list yet.)
He would not give me a 'yes' when I asked him if we could expect it in 2010. But he did not give me a 'no' either. He essentially said that it might, but added that he's not started arranging the songs yet so he's not ready to even pull the guys into studio yet.

Ditto on your new album info. When I talked to Art at the Dallas show about that, he said the same thing, that JJ had alot of songs in his back pocket for probably 2 albums, but he figured it would be a while before the new album came out as well. Whether or not Alligator is holding him back a little bit too since OB is still pretty fresh and they would like to finish selling that to it's maximum before throwing another one out there. Also, even though we all think that JJ was gonna have time to work on it while he was on the break and having the youngin', but I kinda have a feeling that was not the case. I could be wrong, but anyone who has kids can probably attest to the affect it plays on completing anything, much less something that can't be done half-assed. I think he will have some limited time on tour, not alot, but some. Only problem being is that he is not anywhere close to being in his studio where from what I remember, he sets up the album by himself before he brings in the guys to finish it. I hate to say it, but I would say late 2010 would be the earliest that we see a new album.

As for the Devil You Know, I compare it alot to the song Tragic. Both song are about a sensitive issue and about someone JJ knew. With that, Tragic has fallen off the setlists completely as well. I vaguely remember an interview of JJ saying that a couple of his songs hit a little too close to home and that those that he may or may not be singing about had commented or contacted him about the songs? Not that the songs were bad songs, as we all know, but that they bring up some sensitive memories to which JJ, being the kind of person he is, decided to cut back on playing them live for that very reason. I'm not saying that is the reason, but just throwing it out there. They are both great songs, but obviously touch on stories of hardships and suffering that alot of us would never understand. Those who do understand obviously know why they do not want to be reminded of those trying times.

Thanks for the insight DT, I never really thought about it in that light. ---------- "If you've never seen us before, don't be bashful - sing along from start to finish........and dance & feel good.....there's enough shit in the world, let it all out...........Brighter Daaaaays...."
I'm with you guys as well on that. Tragic is up on the list of favorites for me also. I remember during the Country Ghetto tour, when they came to Phoenix, I was at the Rhythm Room a couple of hours before the show and the guys were warming up and doing sound checks. While they were doing that they played the beginning of Tragic, not the entire song, but a good minute or two of it within the warmup and I was telling my friend, "Nice, maybe that means they will play it at the show tonight!" Well, low and behold, it was not on the set list that night, nor has it been when I have seen them live before or after. Guess it's just another in a long line of songs that I can't wait to see JJ belt out live. Soon, it'll happen soon...

DT, that must have been a treat to see our boys do their sound check, I would LOVE to just hang out while they all git set up. ---------- "If you've never seen us before, don't be bashful - sing along from start to finish........and dance & feel good.....there's enough shit in the world, let it all out...........Brighter Daaaaays...."
I saw a couple sound checks they did when I was living in Atlanta. The only time I've ever seen JJ in shorts was during one at Jake's......cut off levi's. I really need to find some of my photos from '02 & '03.
Hey Sunshine, yeah, it was a treat, but I didn't really get to see them that well for it, just hear it. It was at the Rhythm Room in Phoenix which is basically just one room, four walls, and not too big. Probably the size of a convenience store for comparison. Has a bar in the back and the stage on the other side. Anyways, they wouldn't let us in during the warm up, just outside where the double doors were wide open so we could see them from a distance of 50 - 100 feet or so, but we could definitely hear them. It was like mid afternoon when this happened, so the concert was still a good 4-5 hours after that. My buddy and I decided to stop by the venue before hand to hang out before hand. It has a barbeque stand right outside of it, but it was closed until about an hour or two before the show. We saw the tour bus there and stopped by to find them warming up. After they were done, we went to a bar down the street and then came back for some BBQ and something else, oh yeah, one hell of a show!!!! ---------- Delerious Tyme

Cool DT.....I guess I did hear a warm up in March of this year when they did the Peel. We all hung out inside the Peel's "party" room and we could hear them thru the walls, and that was purty cool! ---------- "If you've never seen us before, don't be bashful - sing along from start to finish........and dance & feel good.....there's enough shit in the world, let it all out...........Brighter Daaaaays...."
Only time we've seen them do a sound check was a couple months back at the Windjammer. We stumbled upon; went there to grab a burger and a beer with FireFly and her beau Rob and the guys were on stage. Dumb luck!
For those who may have missed the pics before:

I'll post this again for the ladies. I still don't know who took it. It was sent to me anonymously.

I know a few ladies, which I won't name, love the last picture of those posted above, but I can't get enough out of the pictures of Daryl in shorts, better yet, cordoriu shorts. That's classic!

Damn you guys are too funny. I was thinking to myself the other night after the Zoo show, about how JJ was talking about doing some surfin', keepin' an eye on the ? channel or web site that gives surf conditions around the globe, and I asked him "if you bring your board with you on the bus?"to which he told me that he had his wet suit with him. Then, before that, as we got to the Zoo, made our way into the parking lot where the buses were parked, made contact with our new frriend with the Zoo, and as I got my stuff put out on the lawn(shhhh...ahead of the crowd) the boys were doing their sound check, and gave me a nod and smile as I walked in. Damn, I wish I had my camera out then. But it was cool just to be directly accross from them, eating ribs, cornbread and greenbeans soaked in olive oil, garlic, salt and pepper, while listening in in some live music. Also, i had wondered and figured that there must be shot of him on his board or at the beach, and low and behold, you guys come through like Girl Scouts at a cookie sale. Too funny. Just got back from a 100 mile round trip run for the hell of it to Cabela's big ass store with the boys and their friends, on this here last day of vacation. So, now I better get outside and enjoy some Seattle sun, as we walk down the street to the beach, get some ice cream, and check out the volleyball players havin' a tournament. Ok everybody, drop your airsofts, let's go !
Yep Richard you never know what's gonna turn up round here. I have to constantly monitor the board cause I gotta keep on an eye on god knows what might be posted by FireFly or Ashley or Sunny or Giggles or Morena or JesseJames or even Elizabeth (our biggest lurker) if she would post more than once every 3 months.
As for the surfboard, the mystery person who took that pic asked JJ if he kept his board on the bus and he said no he usually rents one, as he had done that day. No wetsuit needed in Charleston in July!
