I concur re: Skipper's. I've seen them all over the state, but the energy you referred to at Skipper's is tough to duplicate. I've been in large, rowdy crowds in different cities, but its just never the same. The stage is a tad on the postage stamp side, though. With Scone gone and now having two guys where there was once one, Art might have to play from Dennis' shoulders next run thru.

I think the stage at Skipp's is built on a trailer...Clay?

Yup ES. Until the (still current) owners bought it in the late 70s Skipper's had been a trailer park (not "manufactured homes" but an old fashioned Florida trailer park (ick.)

To turn it into a bar, they used some of the structures (the oyster bar is the old lobby/main ofc.) The county wouldn't let 'em put a stage in cause it's in a residential area. (There's a midnight music cutoff on weekends still today.) County finally agreed to let them put in a temporary stage. So the owners wheeled up a big ol flat bed trailer. To make a really long story really short--25 years later and what's still the foundation for that stage? That same flatbed trailer.

Favorite MOFRO Venue...hmmm
sounds like a new thread.

For me it's a 3 way tie:

Bamboo Room (R.I.P.)
Skippers
Natural Ampitheater @ Suwanee Music Park

Man, who knows! Not nearly the amount of times most of you have. The first show was at Jake's Toadhouse in Decatur, July 28 '02. Then there's the Variety, Sidebar, GA Theater, French Quarter, Midtown, Orange Peel, Smith's Olde Bar, The Joint, Jacoby Hall (those were some awesome shows.) I believe a little over 20. Have listened to at least 200 shows however. More than any other band, I know that.

Holy crap y'all are some pretty darn sick bastards I tell ya. And they call me "Sick Pup" for having some autographed dolls, and seen these guys three times since last Sept. Two of those shows were in March, two nights in a row, and we will see them in July and again in August, but hell........some of ya are just plain nuts !!!!! And I like that.

Im not sure of a certain number... 40-50ish. The first show I ever made was an accident... Harpo's in Ybor (I think 97'). I was living in Lakeland, Fl at the time & happened to stagger into a fucking, kick-ass band playing Harpo's. Several killer NOLA shows... Jazzfest, Voodoo, HOB, MapleLeaf (02 or 03???...my fav). Varsity, Skippers +4, Mobile, Jackson, Hattiesburg, Fayetteville (Sooooiiee), & ATL coming up!! Plus... I just saw that the weekend I'm going to see Phish @ The Gorge, the boys are playing Barnaby Blues fest in BC...Hmmm?

The Gorge is one of my ALL TIME favorite venues, the vista from the lawn is absolutely magnificent! They call it Heaven's Amphitheatre for a reason!!

For several years running, me & a gaggle of friends would camp along the Columbia River for Labor Day weekend and check out the three day DMB run @ the Gorge. I swear to you Sunshine, everytime I would crest the hill leading up to the venue and see the beauty before me, I would lose my breath!

too many to count, but well over 20
NOLA
Ashevile
Charleston
Denver

and then 7 or 8 places in Florida... My fav would have to be Skippers if for nothing else, the fried okra. My sis lives on Atlantic Beach, so any Jax show means toes in the sand, and Springing in the Blues usually falls on my birthday, so I am partial to when they used to play that show annually. My biggest regret is that I did not go the the Mofro Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra show
