I like this guy. Anyone who has Nervous Turkey on their list is a friend of mine. I take it you're from Tampa, "Better to Burn Out"?

Oh, there are other people making music out there other than JJ Grey? I had no idea.....

I wish I can say that I see a lot of live music right now, but I just don't. I will see some Cowboy Mouth this weekend, and maybe some Jupiter Coyote, Rusted Root, and Guster soon...

There's a band at this festival in Atlanta called "Honey Island Swamp Band" - sounds Mofroish.

"My My, Hey Hey" No Stan I'm not from Tampa (I live close to Athens). I snatched the 04.07.07 show from Skipper's and absolutely digged them. Thanks again JDude! I've never seen them but would love too; so whenever they come through GA or I happen to be somewhere close in proximity to where they are playin', I definitely plan to attend.

Another band I thoroughly enjoy seeing is Abbey Road Live. They're on the road a lot now so if you get chance to see them, do. You won't be disappointed.

Hey ya'll, had to revive this old thread.

I have been jamming out to The Band of Heathens non-stop for 2 weeks now. They are out of Texas. Check out their Abbey Theatre show on the Archive, and their Austin City Limits show on YouTube.

TN_Cracka thanks for breathing new life into this old thread. I'm always looking for new artists to check out, I'll make sure to look up The Band of Heathens.

Lately, I have been on a classic rock kick and have listened to The Band's The Last Waltz so many times, I'm surprised the mp3 of it hasn't deteriorated!

So we saw Tao Rodriguez-Seeger Band at Tipitina's Sunday night when they opened for Mofro. These guys were great! Tao is Pete Seeger's grandson (and also founder of The Mammals), and I was really blown away! Always a nice surprise when you really enjoy the opening act - wish they'd come on tour with Mofro!

I'm originally from Ohio, so yeah, I'll say the Black Keys.

I've lived in Lake Worth, Florida for 30 plus years, so yeah, I'll say Ben Prestage.

But, I have recently become a fan of 'Viva Le Vox' from Delray Beach, Florida. Some people have described them as "a hillbilly zombie circus" or "a creedence breakdown in the middle of a tim burton nightmare, a vaudevillian honky tonk gunfight".
I'll just say that they are a unique, entertaining, voodoo swamp, tattooed freak show psychobilly quartet that will leave you questioning what you just witnessed. They Do Not play the type of music I would ordinarily listen to but I found myself sucked into the experience.

Listening to iTunes doesn't come close to their Live Shows. I photographed a recent Everglades Benefit show @ Propaganda in Lake Worth. Also on the bill was Grant Peeples, Valerie C. Wisecracker, & Everymen. Check this link for the photos http://daek10d.zenfolio.com/p954260701

Most of you know who Ben Harper is ( I hope). Partial to him because he is who I went to see at the HOB in Myrtle Beach when I saw Mofro for the first time. Glad I went.

add another vote for Drive-By Truckers. Also check out the solo stuff from Patterson Hood of DBT.
And, while I'm blowing the DBT's horn, former DBT Jason Isbell and his band the 400 Unit have a couple of really solid discs out.
If you like the blues rock stuff, check out Indigenous, a band from South Dakota that was originally made up of 2 brothers, their sister and their cousin. Now it's just the eldest brother on guitar and vox with a new band, but is still solid as a rock. Mato Nanji can really play, regardless of who's backing him.
And I also recommend Fleet Foxes. Cool mix of old folk and more of a modern feel. Their harmonies are really cool, and there is some serious guitar playing going on as well.
And then there's DMB, Ted Nugent, the original Van Halen, Hendrix, John Lee Hooker, Big Head Todd & The Monsters, Rush, Son Seals, Sun Volt-The Jayhawks/Wilco (once one band, now two) I could go on forever, but I'll end my list there

Another good local band up here was Greazy Meal... their sound is alot like the sound on Joookhouse and Air.
Might have a hard time finding their music on the web, but I can burn a disc or two if someone wants...
