Here's a way we can help out the band y'all. Let's start a list of radio stations that play Mofro in your area. Include their call request number or studio number and web address if you can. Then anyone who lives in your area will know not only what station(s) to listen to to hear Mofro, but also which one(s) to contact to request them.

Any info on certain shows or times where they might be willing to play the guys would be good too.

We can pretty much forget the usual commercial radio stations. Although there are exceptions, most of the ones that play Mofro are public or commercial free or community funded.

Here's an example:

WMNF 88.5 Tampa/St. Pete/Clearwater/Sarasota
813-239-9663 (studio)
WMNF 88.5 Tampa
Community funded station; plays primarily 2 hr shows with specific formats. Most likely to play Mofro during a.m. and p.m. drive shows daily, noon to 4 p.m. R&B/Blues shows daily, and others (see sched on website.)

So, if you live in Tampa and didn't know, now you know that WMNF plays Mofro from time to time, and you can contact them and ask for more.

I know there's always the pull and push of "we don't want the band to get too big" but it'd be nice if they could make some more bucks. Hot topic in the news right now is health insurance. I can tell you--I cannot speak for all of them--but most of the band members don't have any.

(Anybody had to get a CT scan or MRI lately? Without insurance? It's more than most people's mortgage payments.)

Anything we can do to promote more record sales, and more concert sales, these guys would greatly appreciate.

P.S. Please, I'm not trying to start a health insurance debate. I'm just using it as an example.

I'd be surprised if (1) person at all the radio stations in South Florida had even heard of Mofro, much less play them on the air.....but Izz be crankin' plenty of Mofro for others to hear in my car and on my home stereo!! And we don't even want to talk about the music scene.............PLEASE, OH PLEASE reopen again next year Bamboo Room!!

That's a shame Stan. You'd think with a market as big as y'all have that there'd be a little more Mofro. It really sucks considering that the last 2 places they've played down there are now both closed.

It's not that radio play is going to make the guys money, per se y'all. Neither do record sales for that matter. The band makes their money touring.

But sales and air-time help fill clubs. Clubs are closing and some are hiring cover bands (ick!) instead of touring bands. They may not fill the house but they don't have to pay them near as much either.

The more people know about Mofro the more they can sell tickets and the more they can keep doing what they do.

To date, there has been a total of 26,000 Orange Blossoms sold. While we can't all go out and buy another one, we can do what we can to get others to. More radio stations will play it if we ask them to (if it's the right ones) then we can get more people hooked and then the guys can keep on doing what they're doing instead of going back home and getting a "real job" making more money.

None that I know of and I'm only 30 miles from Athens. But as soon as I win the lotto, I plan to open a radio station that plays tunes from "What other bands do ya'll dig??" Maybe I'll call it WOBDYD or something!

I'm telling ya, you play some Mofro on the airwaves and there are bound to be cars bumpin'. . . play some DFC, She Don't Know, WYLF (just to name a few) and I know folks would have the volumes turned up and the BASS-a-poundin. . . not to mention the funky atmosphere created when played through multiple vehicles simultaneously.

and what me dear man is wrong with that........heck if I didn't have the kids, I probably would do such a thing. Maybe in 12 years when the last one is out on his own, I will dedicate my retirement to "Mofro Marketing"......along with BBQ competitions and Campground hosting around these here parts....
