WOW!! That truly is sad. Good Luck to Adam and Danny!! The site said they are replacing Adam with Trube and Farrell from the Greyhounds.. I have seen this lineup before and was pleasantly surprised.

The scoop I got y'all is that everything is cool; Adam has been with the band for about 5 years and he's ready to get off the road. He has a long-time girlfriend in NY and is looking forward to spending more time at home and playing closer to home. No bad blood with the band or anything, he's just a bit weary, as you can imagine.

Thanks for the memories!

Thanks for all the incredible music you put out with the band Adam....best wishes to you and your lady!

Just another change of the supporting cast. Saw the band before Adam joined, while he was a member and I'm sure I'll see them many more with Andrew and Anthony and whomever else JJ and Daryl decide to have join them on stage.

If you wanna hear what Mofro sounds like with Andrew and Anthony, you can check out the following two shows from 2004 at Magnolia Fest in Live Oak, Fl:

I hate change but it inevitably happens…
What a great musician Adam Scooooooone is.

On another note- I had never heard of the Greyhounds- I checked out youtube-good stuff…
Looking forward to hearing them play-I'll be listening with open ears.

Holy Cow on three fronts.....I surely will miss the funky stuff bass left hand and warbly Leslie-amp enhanced chords from the right. Secondly, the Greyhounds were a band I followed a long time ago because a friend of mine actually played percussion for them. Thirdly, I better not tell my wife Adam has left because she openly had a crush on him. Everytime I reminded her he is a yankee, her crush dissipated.....it was the sunglasses and the snarl, she said.

I know the guys from the Greyhounds are really good, but I'm bummed that Adam has left. Good luck in future endeavors Adam!

Now, maybe i'm looking too much into this...but:

In the past year and a half Sluppick, Scone and Danny have left the band. Is there something going on that we don't know about?

Now, I'm a 'newer' fan...followed the band since 2007..and not as well 'aware' as many of the folks on here, b/c you guys have been following this band like I follow Jimmy Buffett, 311 and DMB for many years.

My question is has people been leaving this band common? Is it 'creative differences'? I'm not trying to step on anyone toes, I'm just curious to why the exodus of talented musicians (and tour managers) that have left the Mofro camp.

Hey Frank...good to hear from you. You present questions that are valid, and most likely others wonder the same but aren't as bold as you!

People leaving bands is common. It's a very transient business. With a Class A band such as DMB or Buffet, they have tour sponsors. Money to eat nice meals instead of whatever the venue brings, staying in a nice hotel when not in the bus instead of doubling up with another bandmate at the Best Western, multiple busses so there aren't 9 guys riding together for weeks on end, etc.

If you can imagine, round up 6 or 7 of your friends and take a 6 month long bus trip. It'd be fun for the first couple months. But by the end everyone would be tired of each other, know way more about each other than they ever wanted to, seen things, smelled things, heard things they never imagined, and would be lucky to all still like each other at the end.

Now, imagine that after 5 years.

Some of these guys don't even have permanent residences. They travel so much it's silly to pay rent. So when they're home they crash with friends. I can't imagine not having my own place and my own bed to come home to, but then again I can't imagine what it's like to do what they do.

Class B bands have to tour relentlessly to make any money and it's tiring. Adam and Danny would both eventually like to start families. Relationships are pretty tough when you spend 250 nights on the road.

The band is less than 10 years old and Adam was there for 5. George was there for 5 or 6. That's a long time in the business. Many bands don't even last that long. And the guys don't make as much money as most people think either.

Not to say they don't have fun cause they all LOVE what they do. But even those of us who love what we do get worn out sometimes, or long for a change.

That's really all it is. No 'creative differences' or anything like that.

As for Danny, he was the first "real" tour manager. From what I've been told (cause I wasn't around either) is that the crew and the guys all kind of pitched in as best as possible and did the job before Danny. The job responsibilities of the TM are tremendous. Danny has the utmost of love and respect for the band and had a very difficult time reaching this decision.

BTW Frank, you young whipper snapper, I first saw Buffet in 1977 at the "Super Bowl of Rock n Roll" at the Tangerine Bowl in Orlando. When Fingers was still young, much less Jimmy, and Dixie McCall could belt out some backgrounds!

I don't think you were born yet! (Hmmmm, I think it was 77...maybe it was 78...maybe it was 76. Ah, the 70s. I lost a lot of brain cells then. Years later I went back looking for them, but alas, they were gone.)

Clay, I second what you said, and to fnovoa, don't look to much into people leaving the band as that there is something wrong. Since you've only followed the band since 2007, I can see how you would think that everything might be falling apart or second guess people leaving, with George leaving and now Scone and Danny. But like Clay says, it's tough out there on the road and those guys were not the only people in the band to leave. Before then we had Fabrice and many others in the band and the only two that have been the staple of Mofro throughout are Daryl and JJ. Adam and George were there for a long time, Art and Dennis are very new (Country Ghetto tour, remember, they are not on the album, joined the band after the release of the album) and Anthony.

From what I can remember, Danny O. left the band for a while over the past summer as well. In fact, I remember talking to him about it at the McDowell Mountain Music Festival which was his last show with them at the time. Much thanks to him for everything he did for me at that concert and I wish him all the best going forward. I don't think we all reaslize that we had probably the best Tour Manager out there today and ever. I can't think of a Tour Manager that did what he did, posted on the fan site, gave us info when we asked, and was just an all around great person day in and day out on the road with the band.

Fact of the matter is, we all hate to see people leave the band, no matter who it is, but they will move on. I know JJ is going to work just as hard, write music like he has in the past. Play Junior harmonica battles with Daryl and Art and Dennis and whoever is behind him.

Damn right I will, and we all will miss Scone, Danny and George. But I am grateful that we had them for as long as we did. I hope that they had as good of a time out there as we did receiving the vibe from them. Lord knows they will always be a part of the band whether they are on the road with them or at home listening them as they raise a family and live the life they deserve to live.

I still have yet to find a better band to see live, granted there are alot of great bands out there, but I can't find anything better than JJ Grey & Mofro. I can't wait to see what vibe they create with the new guys and what happens next. That, and seeing what Danny does out there in NY, if Scone has something up his sleeve solo wise or maybe some Superman3 reconnection? Either way, we are all gonna be forced to dance like we always do when Mofro takes the stage.

Thanks for responding back.

I understand that bands go through line up changes all the time. I also understand both you and DT's points. I'm still a newbie fan when it comes to Mofro. But it just seemed odd to me that Adam and Danny have left the band in the past week. I didn't mean to be bold, or rude. I was just asking b/c you guys are the pro's when it comes to all things Mofro. Thanks for the insight from the both of you.

P.S. - I would have no problem traveling around with my bro's in a band. But I would have to be in a band first..lol

Clay, you're right. I was born in 1981...and my father was a freshman in college in 1977 when you saw Buffett. Hell fingers taylor isn't even with the coral reefer band anymore. Bummer. We Novoa's are young folk.

DT, I agree with you..there's no other band I love to see live than Mofro. Fo' Sho!

I'm jumping out of my skin!!!

HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Andrew & Anthony to join MOFRO!?!?!?!?
I got the news today, while I was riding around with the VP of my company...Liz called & my response was something like "FUCK YEAH!" I feel like a little kid again, and my inner excitement is busting out!!!

If you haven't heard of the Greyhounds, let me just tell you...THEY FUCKING ROCK! Seriously funky bluesy, soulful music. GET OUT & SEE THEM!!! I once drove from Orlando,Fl to Charleston,NC just to see the Greyhounds play at the Pour House. Can't say enough GOOD SHIT about Andrew & Anthony.
Oh...once they were touring with Taylor Hicks(american idol) we drove to Tampa to see the GHounds play & left during Taylor Hicks...hehehe.

Anthony has one of the best soulful voices I've ever heard & Andrew can belt out the blues like nobody's business!!! And they are friendly as hell, had 'em over at my house a few times.

E Stanley...I can't wait to hear what you have to say about this.

I'm blowing off major fucking responsibilities to go to the Savannah,Ga show (first live show with Andrew & Anthony) just because they are playing. I can't continue on to NC with y'all, unfortunatley.

Ok...now that I've had time to take a breath from all that excitement.

From my experience, JJ & Daryl are MOFRO.
Any other artists who are on stage or tour with them are part of the band...but subject to change. They had a female drummer BB Queen, Mike Shapiro on keys, Fabrice on Bass, Nathan on sax all years before Adam & George. Don't be bummed that Adam is leaving, be grateful for all that he added to the MOFRO sound. Adam is amazing...so is Danny & George. Thank you all for sharing your talents with me/us.

There is no comparing Adam's bass/organ skills to anything else. It's a beautiful thing.

There is no comparing Andrew (Guitar/bass) and Anthony(keys) to anything else. It's a beautiful thing.

I'm jumping up & down...practically pissing myself in spazmatic glee to hear that we will get some "GREHOUNDS" flava in our MOFRO!

P.S.
Did I mention that I think this is FUCKING AWESOME!!!

Y'all think JohnDude's a little excited?

No offense taken Frank. I can understand the question. It wasn't rude. I'm sure there are others who are wondering the same. The fact that both Danny and Adam left at the same time indeed looks curious. But I can assure you that it was just pure coincidence.

Yeah I just heard not long ago that Fingers was no longer with 'em. He could wail man. Funny, btw, I graduated from HS in June 77. Your dad and me must be close to the same age! I think actually it was 78 though when I saw him, the Cheeseburger in Paradise tour. Somewhere around when I saw him is when they recorded the "You Had to be There" album--his best ever IMHO.

Super bummed. Scone is one badass cat, but I feel fortunate to live in NYC where I will continue to follow his career, and hopefully see him sit in with the band whenever they're in town.

Im a little behind here because Ive just been busy, but I was pretty stunned to see that Scone left the band. Im dissappointed but Im also pretty excited and curious as to how the new editions, Andrew and Anthony, will influence the bands sound. From everything Ive read on here, it seems to be a welcomed addition. I just downloaded the first show with them. Cant wait to hear it.

Bumping this up the board for 2 reasons:

1. While there are them's of us that live here on the board there are plenty of new folks to the site every day that don't always have the most up-to-date news.

2. We saw Adam when we were at the Surfin Snook Jam in Boca Raton on June 20 and he and his GF have moved to the area and he said they love it.

3. Oops. There was only 2. It just seems to look better when there's 3 numbers.
