I wish I was! Last night's show whetted my appetite and has me jonesing to see them again as soon as possible! I have an acute and raging case of 'FRO Fever that I will just have to appease with live recordings and the radio broadcast on Monday until my next show!

you know those cellphone commercials, like where someone is checking into a motel and the person says, you don't want that room , it's a deadzone!!"

yeah so basically festivals are 'deadzones for sprintcostumers"

I see lilbowwow( Hi adam) posted the list, I actually wrote it down, it impressed a mofro-virgin next to me that I knew the songs by the first note.
it was a fun but dirty crowd, people dancing.
I went over to the soundbooth to wave to chris and when he saw me he says" you! you crazy girl!"
after the show I fought my way thru the crowd of groupies and picturetakers to say a quick hello to jj.
I watched the mofro and galactic tourbuses pull in, and they were there into the wee hours.
got some pics, gonna try to post them soon.
off to bonnaroo now

it's always great to watch a crowd listen to sun is shining down for the first time.
at festivals you will see lots of people that come over to check out a new band. there was def. more folks there towards the end than the beginning. also people were camping really close to the mainstage area so there was even more sitting by there tents hearing the music.

Too short, too short, too short! You just gave us little teaser notes Firefly. Though I love what you posted. Don't you love the experience of watching people see them for the first time live. Even tho the guys aren't playing Bonnaroo, you betta give us some dope on what's happening there.

"I fought my way thru the crowd of groupies and picturetakers" uhhhhhh...what does that make YOU?

well I'm still collecting braincells...
jj is walking back to the bus and you know how he can't say no to a fan tryin to get somehting signed and say hello. I walked over there as well but I hate to just stand there and wait my turn so as people were tryin to squeeze closer I just said Hi and got outta there.
one thing i was gonna say about the VIP section. they had a huge section fenced of right in front of the stage so there was a like 20 foot gap between rich and poor folks. its probably the furthest away i have ever stood in front of mofro. but the vip folks were cool. when they went to get their free beer they grabbed 2 and passed them on to us , amongst other things..ahem
mofro had a trombone player with them, last name something budel, budle, van buttle? didn't understand it. jj didn't explain who he was. he introduced the new guys as part of the band greyhounds. i like them!! a LOT!!!
setlist selection was great!!!

P.S. btw one great way to make it to all these festivals is to volunteer for them , you get afree ticket in exchange. I'm going to 5 and saving about $1000 that way

Now THAT's what I'm talking bout girl. We want to live it thru you! Does sound like fun; they coulda had the VIPs on one side in front or sumthin!!

I can tell you've been out of touch because I've mentioned this on 2 other threads. That's Van Battle; he's a friend of Dennis' from the NY area. He's played with the guys several times, usually during summer festival circuits. Can't believe you of ALL PEOPLE haven't seen him with them. He played BSRI and BSRII. Geez, I don't know nobody who's seen the guys more in the last 12 months or so than you. That flying saucer you got goes warp speed, how'd you miss Van? I think you forgot. You need to FIND them lost brain cells, and fast.

ahahaha , na i think vip's and regular folks should mingle. I know enough poeple working the festival to be behind all kind of scenes but i hate to ask and the most fun is in front of the stage anyways but the free beer is backstage ;)

and i would have remembered the trombone player,

well my internet time McDizzle is up. gotta get one of those internet wireless thingies for the road

If you think that is good, you should have heard the version of "Down at the Sh*thouse" he serenaded the porta-potty users with outside The Engine Room in January. Our Clay is quite the wordsmith!

Whew! I finally got internet and cable!

Clay, the show where I saw Van Battle playing with Mofro was in Memphis at the Hi-Tone Cafe back in September. That's when Hurricane Gustav came through town, so I got a week off school. I went on a 3-night Mofro binge! Van was a great addition to the band, and he was super nice after the show. It would be cool to see him again. Wonder if he'll show up in Jackson Friday. He is a music student in NYC, so I believe he is free now for the summer. He might travel to several shows with the boys.

Ashley,

He was at the Dallas show with the guys and you are quite right with him being a great addition, musically and dancing with the Art and Dennis!
