JJ will be performing solo on the Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour on Monday Feb 2. Webcast (audio) starts at 6:59 p.m. (If you're in the Lexington area, tix are $10, show is at the historic Kentucky Theatre.) ---------- MofroFan1
damn damn damn nearly brougt tears. being from the foothills it was very touching. given my part of VA doesn't have it as bad as the sections of mountains in WV that are being completely leveled for open mining.
I don't think it was you Kimberly. Sun is Shining gets to him near every time. I've seen him tear up on it on many occasions.
Yep, she's gotta lot of talent. Very moving. You're right dc, somebody's got to put a stop to that shit. The people in WV are damned if they do and damned if they don't. It's a shame. ---------- MofroFan1
What a cool programming hour, I wish we had something like that around here!
As always, JJ's emotional intensity was quite moving. And Almira Fawn is a truly gifted young lady, to re-interpret Lochloosa and yet still lose none of the impact of the song is quite a feat for anyone, let alone an 11 year old.
---------- everbody moving, everybody grooving, everybody lettin' it all get loose
Thanks for giving us the link Clay. With regards to the girl, in one word, WOW. And how about the harmonica to go with it? Very impressive. That has to be one of the biggest compliments JJ has ever gotten. Also, it is impossible to not get chills when he sings Sun is Shining Down. He pours his soul in to that song every time. It is so easy to love a band that believes in what they are singing about.
Just got a chance to view, very impressive little girl with such a soulful voice. And JJ's performance of Sun is Shining Down........wow...... ---------- "Lord feel that vibe, Lord feel that vibe....."
Up late and just came across the Woodsong's show and I'm just amazed. SO impressed with Almira and seeing JJ's performance of The Sun is Shining down teared me up. I get asked quite often "How do you listen to one band so much?" or "You are going to see them AGAIN??"
The next time I get asked either of these questions I'm dropping the link to this video and telling the person to watch and come see me in an hour. I know I'm probably saying what a lot of you already feel but what better place to do it. This is WHY I listen every day and why I travel hours away to see a show. Even after all the times JJ has performed that song he still feels it and emotion still pours out of him.
I am in the same boat as briggzz. I often get the eye rolls when I speak of JJ Grey & Mofro, not again Karla, is there anything else you listen to, etc. They think I have this obsession and tell me there ARE other bands out there. I know that, and you all know that. I listen to it all, from Canned Heat to Pink Floyd to The Allman Brothers, to Otis. But as I explain it to them; I did not choose this band, they chose me. I didn't plan on their music becoming a part of my life, it just happened. And yes, I do listen to them Every Day! And as I tell all the eye rollers, what is wrong with someone that has found something that makes them happy and doing it?!
I am just so very glad that Clay has this board where we can all share our admiration, if you will, for this band.
Thanks for listening and now go put on some MOFRO!!!! ---------- "Lord feel that vibe, Lord feel that vibe....."
