Sounds like a few of us are hitting the Sarasota Blues Fest.
I am & so is my super cool hetero-life/roomate Liz.

We should organize a meet up pre show. Anybody know of a cool place to meet up in Sarasota? Or say 15 minutes before MOFRO goes on, by the sound engineer. I'll be there with mics flying & would love to meet y'all.

Or...let's all plan a meet & greet with each other in Jax for the NYE run. We did that a few years ago with members of the listserve & it was awesome. Jeni made DFC tshirts, Jimbo cooked hot dogs & told stories. I met folks from all over.

That way we can meet in person, and when we are following the band & need a safe place to crash...we have an underground MOFRO network. My place in Orlando is always open to a MOFRO fan who is following the band, or another band. Or if they are playing in Orlando...I open my place up as a "Pre Party" location to meet up & ride out to the show together.

Whaddy'all think about that?

I second that emotion! I got to meet Clay during Blackwater week up here and would love to meet some more of the fine folks on board.

Anyone going to Bear Creek?

Anybody live in Sarasota & want to suggest a place to meet up?

Anybody in Jax want to suggest a place to meet up?
Chowder Teds is only open when they want to be open.
There is a place across from the Freebird where Jimbo showed me how to eat raw oysters on year, can't remember the name.
Or..Hey Jimbo..where is that place we met for the picnic that one year? Near the beach I think.

I can suggest places in Orlando...but not too sure about JAX & SARASOTA. Let's brainstorm y'all.

I think it's a great idea! I lean toward Jax cause I'm thinking more people may do both nights there so it gives us more of a window to do something. Plus, if we do it there, we'll still get the central Fla folks, as well as GA and other states--I've met people there that came from Atlanta, Myrtle Beach, Pensacola (that's in Alabama right?) So I think there'd be a better chance of more people.

We probably got more folks in the Jax area that know of places to do stuff than anywhere. That oyster place is good; near the beach, near the Freebird. They got great burgers too, btw. (Don't get a salad, they suck.)

Course weather's a factor. We all know that time of year in Jax can be anything from 45 degrees with a 35 mile an hour wind to 80 degrees and jumping in the pool. Just to throw that out for what it's worth.

Hey JD, if we have to, you and I'll take a road trip up there and check out all the logistics (and sneak out to Ted's on the off chance he's open; the 2 times I've tried in 2 years he ain't; or get us some of them burgers and oysters.)

We're onto a good thing here, let's keep at it!

Clay,
Lemme know when you wanna roll up to J-ville, I'll drag Liz along with us & we can bump some good tunes along the way. We must stop at the Yearling & eat! It's off 301, and right next to Lake Orange & Lake Lochloosa. Have you been there yet?
On Saturday's Willie Green plays in the dining room.

Whatchya doing on Saturday?

Ohhhh, JD, I've been dying to eat at the Yearling. I got some great pics of Willie at BSR that I've not had time to post. Jen and I have been wanting to go up there and see him since we saw him last year at BSR.

Let me think on Sat a little, but at this point I'm leaning toward hell yes. Maybe we can stir up Jimbo while we're up there (if he ain't fishing or gator hunting or Gator watching.)

Sarasota Fest won't allow tapers!?

Glad to hear you are going stealth...I may hafta dig around & look for my stealth gear. Man it's been awhile.

Buckets is great 'cuz it's right across the street from the Freebird. Picnic leans more towards hanging out, talking & gettin' to know each other. I'm down for either one of those
in Jax.
I love the idea of makin' shirts, I've gotten a few shirts made by fans for fans & they are the best.

We got some Jax locations...anybody in or around Sarasota wanna chime in on a place to meet?

OK...since nobody's mentioned a place to meet in Sarasota.

I'm gunna recommend meetup @ the soundbooth/sound engineer 20-30 minutes before they go on. 5:30pm.

If y'all wanna post about a t-shirt you'll be wearing or some crazy hat so we can recognize each other.

I'll be wearing a maroon "BLACKWATER UNIVERSITY" T-shirt.
