Hey y'all- Jam Cruise is complete, and we're all back at home for the time being. Now it's time to spice up merch world a bit. Gimme any and all ideas of items you'd like to see out there this spring/summer, and we'll get crackin' on it.

So far, I'm looking into a new ladies' tank top, Choice Cuts on CD, a new 'flex fit' hat, and knit winter skull hats. Panties? stuffed animals? Holler at me!!

I like all that shit!! How about "lemme get a bottle o' dat Mofro Hot Sauce!!??" I love hot sauce, and we could get our own patented recipe together HA! Mason jars could be sweet too, I'd just have to have them packed well so they lasted on the road...

And Clay, I know you had started a thread on this in the past, but favorite lyrics to go on t-shirts too. That's a definite. And too bad we both were too sober on Jam Cruise and couldn't meet up and see those tee shirt designs:0 Promise this next batch of shirt is gonna blow the top off venues!!! Consistent with the Mofro brand, of course.

hell a mofro frisbee or one of those bendable flyers for the beach or the backyard....

why not have a couple of us throw out our favorite lyrics to get some ideas for a tee design...

Roll Blackwater Roll

....Stick ya hands near my plate, you'll draw back a nub....

Life in a country ghetto......

Definitely panties! While on Jam Cruise, Jen and I were in line for buying merch. I was so excited about the pile of panties available for purchase. I asked some guy -- "Let me see those panties!" He said, "Oh, you mean these doggie shirts?" Ha! Boy, did my face flush!

But yeah, I would love a pair of Mofro panties! Maybe the rear end would say "Army Mule"!!

First, before I forget, you almost have to use this picture or something to the effect of this:

JJ Grey & Mofro-June 26 and 27, Windjammer, Isle of Palms

Maybe with the words

"Maple Syrup Don't Leave Home Without It."

or something to that nature.

With the panties idea, one thing I was going to throw out there for ladies and the ability to throw printed words on there. I went to college at the U. of Arizona and by far one of the most popular female clothing items down here is the boxer shorts with "U of A" printed across the ass, butt, don't know really how to describe it any better than that. They do the same with sweat pants as well for women. Maybe an idea for this also, could put whatever you want across there, Army Mule, Mofro, On Fire, etc... That way, it can be something that when worn can be worn in public. Obviously, the women down here wear them all the time as shorts just in casual dress to go to class or when out running, and so forth. I like the panties idea, but doesn't do much for advertising the band since, well atleast I would assume, those wearing them would have them covered up.

For Jimbo's sake, being the Professor, maybe bring back the Blackwater University concept. Something like using the concept of the college format T-shirts and substitute Blackwater U. for it. For instance, having Est. 2001, or whatever year decided, printed under the words Blackwater U. just like colleges have thier start dates for their respective apparel. Maybe make up a mock University Seal for it, having the words Blackwater University in latin on the banner of the circle with the date and roman numerals. On the inside, anything having to do with the band, maybe the picture of a harmonica, the Lochloosa/Country Ghetto/OB logos. The JJ Grey and Mofro logo with the block lettering. However you want to do it. Could also put Blackwater U. and have the XXL Athletic Dept. concept with it. Alumni shirts? Mom and Dad shirts, but those would probably be made for Jimbo alone. Probably should consult with him about this as well since he has vintage rare items with regards to this matter.

Oh, and possible determining a mascot if there isn't one already. Maybe just make the mascot the Mofro's? Again, Jimbo might know if there was a mascot already?

I've always wanted something to the effect of a T-Shirt with the Lochloosa Album logo (the four trees) on the front or a picture/sketching of Lake Lochloosa. Could put the word Lochloosa directly underneath the image. On the back, simply "She's on my mind" Obviously, anywhere on the shirt, the JJ Grey and Mofro logo or whatever the band decided.

Don't know if it is possible or what the rules/restrictions are with it considering thier status with the band, but any way to get T-Shirts with regards to the Hercules Horns? Even just an image of Art and Dennis playing or a logo for them? Logo ideas of maybe the Trumpet and Sax somehow looking like the human arms flexing the bicep? Hercules playing both instruments at the same time? Other ideas? Not sure what could be done with that, but I think that would be cool too.

Something using the words that started it all.

"What's Happening Mofro?"

or "What's Up Mofro?"

Obviously, JJ would know the exact phrase they used at thier old work place when he use to book tours while on the clock and got the name Mofro from.

These two might be jumping the gun, considering they are not released on an album to date, but two t-shirt ideas:

Math equation picture, sketch drawings for the items.

sketch images of a Harp and set of Drums, put in the equation:

Harp + Drums =

With the words on either the same side of shirt or opposite "You Know, You Know, You Know What I'm Talking About"

Second Idea:

Sketch drawing, almost cartoon like of a Flower, what kind? Any kind, you choose. Then on the same side of shirt or opposite the option of words:

Simply
"Hey There Little Flower"
or
"Hey There Little Flower, How Do You Grow?"
or
Simply the words "Gotta Know" "Cause I Gotta Know More, Know More Than You"
or
Add your own variation.

Also, any chance of bringing back any of the old merchandise or are they gone forever? The Front Porch Soul shirt, Men's Mofro Stars shirt, etc...

Those are all great shirts and great designs, being that they were designed by JJ himself.

Dang, DT- those are all GREAT ideas. Thanks!! That's definitely a good start. I'm thinking maybe getting down to 2 new designs in the next few weeks. As for the women's sizes, we will definitely get some XXL shirts on any new orders. The designs of the women's shirts are very petite. Also going to supply some 3XL men's shirts/hoodies for the bigger fellas (and our bus drivers who take great care of us).

The panty idea might be better turned into a womens' shorts or sweatpants? Good point about being covered up. I personally like 'on fire' printed on the a$$-

I like the older designs as well, and I've spoken with management about bringing some of them back. The only thing is we need to include 'JJ Grey &' Mofro to them.....

Keep 'em coming, and I'll compile the best ideas and run them past y'all too. I really appreciate your input, and it'll be worth it I'm sure.

Nice eeek, that's a good idea. I remember JJ saying in an interview that he had a bunch of recipes that he just never had the time to put up on the website but had always been meaning to. With that idea, maybe Bow Wow can nudge him a little bit to gather them up and put them in a cookbook instead to sell as merchandise! All the recipes for everything listed in Ho Cake like you said and more.

Maybe a section for what AC puts Maple Syrup on? Oh wait, that's everything, nevermind that part.

Bow Wow - Anytime Man, thanks for coming on here and giving us the opportunity to give you some ideas, definitely very cool of you to do such a thing. Also, if you happen to be in the same situation on down the line, I think I speak for everyone in that we all likely have alot more ideas or concepts to give you so no need to be afraid to ask.

When you have the new designs and/or the old ones brought back, are these items gonna be available just through the merchandise table at shows or do you think we will be able to get them online through the site as well?

Oh, good question. out of everything that we have ordered i'll keep a sufficient amount on the road and the rest to Merch Lackey in San Diego. So everything will always be available at all outlets. One thing to add, we had the guys sign NYE '10 posters (THEY'RE BAD ASS) and sold at Freebird shows. Those will be sent to the online store, as will the older BSR shirts and most posters so they don't get banged up. And i don't mean banged up like our fans who wear our panties will get. Did I say that out loud???

Guitar pick necklaces.......I've collected multiple Southern Threads guitar picks from JJ and made 2 or 3 necklaces with them. I took a dremel and bore a tiny hole in the pick and fastened dangling swarvarki crystals to it, put a silver bail on it and wear it on a sterling chain. I get compliments on it everytime I wear it!

If people are really interested in the "Ho Cake Hush Puppy n Grits" cookbook, Gregg and I would LOVE to help put it together. He could help design (as he is a graphic artist) the pages and covers. I could type it awl up, include some photos of each of the dishes. I think if done right, this could be a winner. With each or some of the recipes that JJ submits - he could add a story/photo as well.

Doing a cookbook as awlways been one of my dreams. So being I love to cook + take photos + Love this band = a winner!! We can maybe put together a section for each band memeber (including some stories) with their favs along with pics of each member......maybe even a section on fav places that serve that Southern food and maybe even with their recipes.

This would be a FANTASTIC item to have autographed!!!

Hey Ya'll,

I love the Mason Jar idea!

Richard mentioned a shirt with "Homesick but it's alright". I absolutely love this! So many people move away from home (such as myself) for jobs or whatever. Add some mention of JJGrey & Mofro and this would definitely be something I would buy.

The poster idea is cool too. I actually yanked one of the posters advertising the Mofro/Shooter Jennings show off the wall at 9:30 club a few weeks before the show :)

I'm down with the undies as well.

yes i think the ladies undies are up there too.
as far as the posters go, i've been wanting show-specific posters for a minute now. This WILL happen this year (i sure hope so), with maybe 100 posters tops signed and numbered. We'll just have to see what venue fits the bill when more dates are announced.
I re-thought the flex fit caps, and those are comfy but they leave the ladies out. bucket style hats would still work.

does anyone have a pic of the old mason jars? i've never seen them.

definitely a long sleeve ladies tee, a new tank, sticker(s), and i've been hearing a lot of requests out there for Choice Cuts on CD. Still would love to get something live to sell, but haven't been able to crack the seal on that yet.

and TrophyWife1, thanks for reminding me about the ipod/iphone skins. And i think USB drives with content are still in the running.

Brewing up some great ideas, gonna be a solid 2010 I can feel it!

Just jumping in with a tidbit on the Choice Cuts CDs. Not sure if everyone knows, but you can't wait to get it on CD, you can buy it off of ITunes as well. For those like me who don't have a record player (still bought two vinyls) but wanted to listen to the tracks, especially Tupelo Honey. Not saying that we shouldn't do the Choice Cuts on CD, when it's available, I'm certain I will be purchasing atleast two copies of it as well. That's my motto, why buy one, when you can buy two for twice the price? That and anything Mofro I have to have atleast two of. One to wear/use and one for JJ and the guys to autograph when I have the chance. T-Shirts, atleast 3, that way I have a back up incase something happens to the original or it wears down from flat out wearing and washing it too much.

That could also be another idea, more bumper stickers with other logos apart from the CG one they currently have.

I really like the idea of bringing back the Blackwater U. concept, no matter what it is on. I know the Professor is likely in the same boat, although, just as long as we don't duplicate the rare stuff he has hidden in his back pocket. If we devalue anything he's got, might stop him from doing pole dances for us and life just wouldn't be the same...

He's got a Blackwater Degree/Diploma, I'm guessing it's for a Ph.D in Front Porch Soul?
