Lawdy knows y'all, I apologize for the long delay on this. It was a bit more time-consuming than I anticipated, I couldn't decide on how best to judge them, so in the end I procrastinated. Sorry especially to them's who entered...by the deadline. Shame on me.

(Do I get me a sip of grape juice and a cracker now?)

We had 13 entrants and instead of having a panel of judges narrow them down first I've put up a poll for y'all--meaning any Mofro fan, not just people on the boards--to select your favorite. The 3 setlists with the most votes will then go onto JJ to decide.

Deadline for voting is Monday Dec. 21.

It all should be self explanatory, but if not you can either post a question here or email me at clay@mofrofans.com.

Go here to see the setlists and vote for your favorite.

I ain't forgot about the Cover Song Contest. Since the band is mostly on break and it's holiday time, how about say we'll do the judging on that in January? (There are some really great songs on those lists...it's gonna be tough--but fun--to decide on the best one! We have 16 entries.

Holy crap - this is hard! I think I'm gonna have to get my ipod out and give these all a proper listen before making a decision. (possible new thread: you might be a Mofro Geek...)
Well, at least it gives me something to do while traveling over the holiday!!

ok i give you this one because i don't want to hijack this thread away from it's real purpose , and start a discussion on that the state of bavaria is not like the state of florida for example.
I just fly over aunt helga and have her explain while she feeds you bavarian pastries...with beer..wearing lederhosen!
NOW back to the subject. how come there are only 16 entries?
but they are some seriously good ones. I think jj would enjoy looking them all.
it's going to be very enjoyable to see which one will win!
(and I ain't tellin which one is mine)

Okay we'll discuss the interplanetary geography lesson later. And leave my lederhose out of it!

We've covered the 16 song thing before but I dug up the thread and here tis:

"There's a little bit of courteous grumbling going on about having 16 songs on the setlist instead of the originally discussed 20. Before settling on 16 I researched the band's setlists and found they average 17 songs (I did not include festivals into the avg.) The idea of reducing it to 16 was so if JJ looks at it and says "...wow, we gotta do this..." then it gives him opportunity to add songs if needed.

Anudder way of looking at it is if JJ decided to use the winning setlist and because of time restraints they could only do 18 songs then 2 or your songs are going to get cut if we use a number of 20 but if we use 16 then the chances are excellent that he'll do the whole list and perhaps 2-4 more."

you better!

and I was talking about 16 entries not songs.

you also got to think about the strength and power it takes to sing certain songs, like
sun shining down
I believe
lochloosa
brighter days

most unlikely he will ever sing those in a row, unless acoustic maybe

but than hey, who knows what jj thinks
i think all those lists are great

Ohhhhhh. Well...the reason there are only 16 entries is because only 16 people entered.

And BTW, I was joking again: I don't get a vote, or an entry.

Also, alot of songs that only appears just once out of all of the setlists. Songs like Whitehouse, Pray For Rain, The Truth, Hurricane, She Don't Know, and On Palastine? Even Frog Giggin shows up more than once! All great lists though, gonna be tough for JJ to choose between any of those, much less when it's narrowed down to three.

It was INCREDIBLY difficult to choose just 16 songs....I contemplated for days on end........I stressed over it.........and yes, once I submitted my dream setlist, I had "dream setlist remorse" set in, but what could I dew...I just had to let it roll. May the best setlist win!!

It was difficult, at first it was like "what would JJ prefer?", but I had to realize that it was MY Dream Setlist and then the decision making was even harder. 16 songs is just a drop in the bucket compared to awl the songs I want to hear.

And now I look at all the entries and mine don't look so good no more..........but hey.....whatcha gonna dew..

Hey I know, I will put on sum JJ Grey & M*O*F*R*O!!!

Don't forget the voting closes out on 12/21. Lots of folks ain't voted yet so c'mon now, the entrants put a lot of thought into their picks and the winners get some great Mofro shit.

We have over 150 people a day visiting the site but only 30 votes. Need a little help here!!

I won't tell which, but as of now the setlist leading the way has 23% of the votes, the 2nd one has 20%, 3rd has 13%, 4th has 10%, and 4 lists are in a tie at 7%. (The remaining 5 lists each have 3% of the votes or less.) So it's a horse race!! Especially if we get a good rush of voting between now and the 21st.

Remember...anyone can vote, you don't have to have a screen name/password for the board or anything.

Go here to see the setlists and vote for your favorite.

Yes , was VERY,VERY difficult. I had to go with songs I have never heard live, and/or those that are rarities. Believe me, I had to X off many, many songs from my final cut. With each one I took off....it cut me deep!

Ooooooh...a little rush of voting today.
The leading list still has 26% of the vote
2nd has 16% (We're talking 11 votes for 1st vs 7 votes for 2nd so just a few votes could turn the top 2, or even 3, into a barn-buster race.)
There is now a 3-way tie for 3rd with 9%
Not to be forgotten, 2 lists are in 4th at 7% (either with a chance to take over 3rd place)

Just to show y'all how close the voting is, I thought I'd give you the actual vote count instead of percentages.

The leading setlist has 11 votes
2nd has 7 votes
3rd is a 3 way tie with 4 votes each
4th is a 2 way tie with 3 votes each

So a few more votes coming in could change things up and make it a wild wind-down to the finish.

Oooooooo....ooooooo....ooooooo!

The 3rd place list has overtaken 2nd. There is now a one vote diff between setlist one and 2!

The leading list still has 11 votes
2nd has 10
3rd (which was 2nd) has 7
Then there are 2 lists that each have 4 votes
And 3 are tied with 3 votes each
And on down...we have a total of an even 50 votes so far.

Okay now, there are TWO setlists that have NO votes. C'mon, that means that 2 of the people that entered either haven't voted yet or voted for someone else.

I was just looking thru the site analytics. For those who are entered in the contest, I thought it best that I remind y'all of one of the rules, one which I think is important.

The idea is that only Mofro followers vote. Not your Facebook friends, or your cousin, or your co-workers. As I pointed out a few times before, those who are voting should be folks who know the band and want to take the time to go thru the setlists and select one based upon what they think is best. Having someone come on and vote based upon nothing but a request to do so is not in keeping with the spirit of the contest.

I ain't saying nobody's doing nothing wrong or anything. I'm just sayin...
