e, find a taper and take him. Actually, if you can find someone to go with you and tape, I can get the two of you on Papa's Guestlist......but one of you MUST tape.
fnovoa: remember, if the soundman has a problem about giving you a board feed, remind him that Malcolm allows board patches and if you ask nicely, I'm sure he'll tell the soundman himself.
Hey Frank...I'll be sure to stop by and say high. Thanks for making yourself available for the taping. I, personally, cannot wait. Tremendous artist + small venue = special times.
I'm sorry this is last minute but one of my producers at work called out sick and I have to cover for him. So I won't be able to make it tonight to tape. I'm sorry. I work in the radio business and I'm 2nd in command, so I have to be there.
Sparse crowd, no tapers, lights out performance. Three supremely talented dudes doing it like it was meant to be done. There was an upright bass, a young man completely killing the drums (he's a BIG fan of AC) and of course the big man. Papa played like the place was packed. Super cool to finally get to see him live. Spoke with him briefly afterwards and he seemed most gracious, thanking us for making the drive out. Mark, the drummer, chatted with us into the wee hours and is a remarkably nice guy...he's a Floridian, from Gainesville...see, don't you like him already?!
Great set, I heard all the songs I was looking for in my first Papa show...other than Delia. Early in the Morning got the place hoppin as expected.
It sucks they had to give way to a DJ and some ridiculous music afterward, it appears the gene pool is thinning rapidly.
They are off this morning to see Stan and Co. in Delray.
Stan, tell the men thanks again for coming to see us in St. Pete. It had to be a disappointment for the band, but at least a few of us left all smiles.
stan if you talk to malcolm in the next day or two try to find out what time they are coming on the stage, that way we can coordinate a feeding and dip out for a few hours to the show.
